Les nuits d'été This is a
three movement sonata for flute and piano. I completed the score for
this late in the summer of 2007. The harmonic language is
contemporary, but it is extremely lyrical. This is also my first
published score and I am very proud of it. It is published by BRS
Publishers, who specialize in woodwind music.
Ombre Diabolique
This is an unusual piece for Santûr and orchestra.
"Classical" Concerto for Cor
Anglais
This is my recently completed
concerto. It is is more or less in Classical style. I tried to keep to
strict form, so it is in three movements. The first, marked Allegro,
is in Sonata-form, the second is a Pastorale in the form of a
Siciliano in slow 6/8. The third is in Rondo form and marked Allegro
Assai. The soloist in this performance is the incredible Garritan
Personal Orchestra English Horn.
Symphonic Poem Contemplative with
an underlying restlessness. The harmonic language is 'modern',
but as in all my pieces, strong tonal centers are always at least
implied if not explicitly stated.
Concertino (This little piece
is in Baroque style. I gave myself some freedom to wander, yet I tried
to imitate Baroque conventions as best I could. It is scored for two
oboes, string ensemble and basso continuo.) Dedication: I humbly dedicate this little
piece to Michael Starke, a composer of Baroque style music, whom I
admire very much. You can listen to some of his wonderful music
here.
Thank You Mr. Garritan This is a
little piece I wrote using some of the new updated samples and
functions in Personal Orchestra. It is indeed a wonderful update to
the library.
Classical Piece This is a
mixture of a classical and romantic textures. The piece is in simple
ABA form.
Moments
A romantic piece with warm and smooth orchestral textures.
Backstreets of Rotterdam
is the first piece in a suite of impressions of European cities. A fairly
'modern' piece, but referring back to old times, with modal melodies
and unusual harmonic references. It starts off in the Phrygian Mode,
and with the unusual time signature of 5/8. It's not entirely modal, yet tonal
centers are only briefly touched at certain points and then soon disintegrate into another
mode, which makes the whole piece seem harmonically unstable. It's scored for solo woodwinds and harp and is part of a
collection of impression pieces. The second piece in this series, Champs-Élysées, appears below.
I will add the complete set as pieces
are completed. (here is an
mp3PRO version at ca. 2Mb)
Champs-Élysées is the second piece in a suite of impression
pieces. This piece depicts scenes from the streets of Paris.
